Rescues do a lot of hard work behind the scenes, groups we are in with at risk dogs, warning pages to advise us of situations etc.
This week, many of us were trying to help a dog called Zeus.
Zeus is a 10 year old Staffy cross, who had found himself at the vets to be put to sleep.
The vets had been asking for help from rescues as this lovely, friendly boy did not deserve to die.
The reason for the request to euthanise, was that his owner had purchased a more expensive dog 12 months previously.
He had spent £600 on his new dog, and the new dog didn’t like Zeus.
Living outside together, the other dog would often attack Zeus badly and poor Zeus did not retaliate.
However, rather than separate, get behavioural advise, Zeus was taken to be put down.
The lovely Tracey from Wonky Pets Rescue had found him an adoptive home, but didn’t have the capacity to offer him back up if things went wrong.
So we offered to step in and offer that safety net for him, to ensure his future is secure.
Tracey then kindly arranged transport, paid for vaccinations and he was castrated yesterday, also at her expense.
We worked together to help this boy, we appreciate everything Tracey has done for him and we know she appreciates our promise to keep him safe in the future, if necessary.
Rescues working together is so satisfying, we have the same goals and make a much stronger team together
Here’s the lovely Zeus, now safe and sound
